Going Beyond the Binary: Research Mathematics and Gender

Research Activities

In 2024 we conducted an open response survey with genderqueer, nonbinary and trans young people (aged 18-24) asking them to describe their experiences of learning mathematics, experiences of learning gender and whether the two connected. 

We also conducted two follow up interviews to probe the connection between gender and mathematics deeper. This also gave us the chance to show our young people some mathematical visualisations of gender.
We are now analysing this data and disseminating the work through the activities listed below.
